Matthew grew up in Omaha and graduated from Skutt Catholic High School. He then earned a B.A. in History and Criminology / Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, graduating magna cum laude.
Matthew attended Creighton University School of Law, graduating 4th out of 100 students. Matthew was a member of the Creighton Law Review, and his article on copyright law was published in the 51st Edition of the Creighton Law Review. He tutored first-year law students in both large and small group sessions in all first-year law courses. Further, Matthew earned seven CALI awards, given for the top grade in a particular class.
Matthew has been with Carlson & Burnett since 2016, first clerking as a law student, and is now an Associate Attorney. Matthew’s practice focuses on corporate law, business transactions, and probate. Matthew enjoys developing creative solutions to solve a client’s legal issues and enjoys being the first call a client makes when an issue arises in their business. Matthew thoroughly enjoys the challenge of writing legal documents in a clear, concise manner without too much “legalese” so that clients can be protected, while still understanding what they’re signing.
Matthew currently volunteers his time providing pro bono legal services through the Volunteer Lawyers Project and Nebraska Free Legal Answers. Matthew is a die-hard New York Yankees fan and has two boys: an adopted stray cat, Louis and a malti-poo, Harry.
