Matt joined Carlson & Burnett in January of 2020. Matt began his practice representing clients in New York City with his first jury trial in the Supreme Court of Queens County, New York in 1997. He continued his civil and commercial litigation practice in 1999 following his return to his home state of Nebraska. Matt received his B.A. from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with honors in 1993 and his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School in 1996.
An experienced litigator, Matt has over 20 years of trial experience in various civil and commercial cases including the areas of complex commercial litigation, creditor rights in bankruptcy, insolvent estates and probate litigation. Over his career, Matt has also represented clients in real estate litigation, commercial & residential landlord/tenant issues, trust litigation, personal injury and family law cases. He also has over seven years of experience representing clients in the emerging area of blockchain technology, including the regulation of digital currencies and compliance issues.
Matt enjoys spending time with his family. You’ll sometimes find him hunting, watching Husker football or following Yankees baseball. He values the importance of community involvement, and he has leadership roles in his church and the Omaha West Rotary Club. In the past he helped to mold the litigators of the future by coaching high school mock trial teams. He’s also always ready for a good game of cribbage.
